Our Mountain Home Veterinary Hospital team.

Our veterinarians, technicians, receptionists, and assistants are all people with a great love of animals. Together, we work as a team to provide the best care possible for your pet. We conduct daily staff meetings and routinely discuss our hospitalized cases to ensure continuity of care for our patients. We are proud to be an AAHA accredited facility!

Christopher Buckner, DVM

Christopher Buckner, DVM

Dr. Chris Buckner earned his Bachelor of Biological Sciences from Vanderbilt University in 2005. He then went on and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee in 2009. In May of 2009 he joined the staff at Mountain Home Veterinary Hospital. In his free time, Dr. Buckner enjoys time spent with his wife and daughter, as well as backpacking and SCUBA at the aquarium. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Gatlinburg, a Scoutmaster/ Crew leader for Troop III, and is Youth Ministry Leader & Drama Director at Richardson's Cove Baptist Church.

Dr. Amy Thomason joined the staff of Mountain Home Veterinary Hospital in May of 2002. Dr. Thomason received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Maryville College. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee in 2002. In her free time, Dr. Thomason enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and daughter.

Dr. Wayne Lilly is a 1988 graduate of the University of Tennessee, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He was an Animal of Science major at UT and also attended the Volunteer State Community College. Dr. Lilly has been an integrel part of Mountain Home Veterinary Hospital since joining our staff in 1998. He & his wife enjoy spending time with their two daughters and grandchildren.

Paula Tillett /Office Manager

Paula joined the staff of Mountain Home Veterinary Hospital in 1999, bringing with her 19 years of veterinary hospital experience as well as business management experience. As a long term employee, Paula has seen the hospital grow, and enjoys the wonderful patients & their owners that she has met over the years. In her free time, Paula enjoys spending time in KY with her children & grandchildren, spoiling her toy poodle "Gidget", as well as riding motorcycles in our beautiful Smoky Mountains.

Whitney Hodges

Whitney Hodges /Receptionist

Whitney joined our Mountain Home team in 2008, bringing with her a great respect and love for animals as well as their owners. She has became a wonderful addition to our reception team and enjoys her customer service position. Whitney has attended communication & customer service classes through Patterson Veterinary University and is a certified Care Credit consultant. In her free time, Whitney enjoys camping with family and playtime with her 4 dogs and 1 cat. Goals include continuing her education as to better her customer service skills.

Ben Madigan /Veterinary Assistant

Ben joined our Mountain Home Veterinary team in April of 2009. Ben has became a wonderful asset to our veterinary team. Ben is known as a gentle giant, handling every patient with comforting care when needed. He has taken on the role of Inventory Coordinator, making sure that our hospital is equipped with every essential item needed to practice exceptional veterinary medicine. In his free time, Ben enjoys time with his wife, biking and kayaking, as well as spoiling his dog "Tank".

Amanda joined the Mountain Home team in January of 2015. Amanda has always loved being around animals, so going into the animal care field seemed a natural course for her to follow. She has continued to impress us with her sincere interest in each & every patient as well as the quality nursing care that she always provides. Amanda graduated from Lincoln Memorial University and earned her Associate of Science in Veterinary Medical Technology. Special interests include a focus in veterinary dentistry. In her free time, Amanda enjoys time with her 2 cats, Joey and Nigel.

Mercedes Piper

Mercedes Piper /Veterinary Assistant

Mercedes joined our Mountain Home team in June of 2015. From her first day, Mercedes has had a natural talent of making families, patients and coworkers feel at ease.  Her enthusiasm, warm heart, and exceptional nursing care has made her a wonderful addition to our staff.  Mercedes is currently enrolled in the veterinary technician program at Cedar Valley College. She is also CE certified in pet microchipping as well as a Hills Science Diet Nutritional advocate. Free time consists of hiking & fitness/exercise, along with time spent with her 1 dog and 3 cats. Goals include obtaining her technician license as well as a degree in business management.

Mountain Home Veterinary was pleased to welcome Brittany to our team in 2007. Brittany brought with her an abundance of veterinary technician experience as well as an enthusiastic & caring dedicaton to the career that she has chosen. Brittany is a 2006 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with an Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. In her free time, Brittany enjoys time with her husband and son, as well as a home full of pets. Future plans include furthering her education by attending continuing education courses and in turn, giving her the ability & knowledge to help as many animals and their owners as possible.

Ariel joined our team at Mountain Home Veterinary in November of 2015, bringing with her a great respect and unconditional love for animals. In addition to keeping our boarding area well maintained & patients spoiled, her enthusiasm & warm heart has became a wonderful attribute to not only our kennel staff, but also when helping clients at our reception desk. Ariel's free time consists of spending time with her fiance' and spoiling her 4 dogs.

Angie joined our Mountain Home team in February of 2016, bringing with her a great respect and unconditional love for animals. Her past experience includes 5 yrs in general practice as well as 4 yrs in animal emergency. Angie has demonstrated an unbelievable attention to detail, an excellent rapport with clients & their pets, and a compassionate nature that has already made her an invaluable part of our team. Angie's free time consists of spending time with her husband & 2 children.
